passing, Ephrata loses one of its best friends. Thomas P. Grater, who
touched three generations of Ephrata youth with his leadership and
enthusiasm, died Sunday, July 12, at the age of 69, following an illness of
six months. A sign outside the Ephrata Recreation Center just says "Thanks
Tom."

night in the park. The evening filled with food, fun, and games was what
the evening was all about.

re-opening. The newly renovated Adamstown Community Pool will celebrate its
grand re-opening on July 18. the pool went through $500,000 in renovations
which included a new handicap ramp, filter building, and diving
board.

office of Arthur P. Mylin, county superintendent of
schools.

named instructor in the agricultural and shop department of East Cocalico
Vocational School, succeeding Prof. R. E. Sleppy. Prof. Sleppy has accepted
a similar post at Jonestown.

.500On Monday afternoon between 5 and 6:30, a party of a
thousand or more soldiers passed through this borough on their way to the
port of embarkation for France. The soldiers camped for the night on the H.
G. Metzer farm, near Mohler's school house.

E. Eichelberger, of Murrell, on Wednesday of last week, brought a fine new
Paige automobile from Philadelphia, which he turned over to the purchaser,
Jere R. Becker of Murrell, making the trip all the way from Philadelphia in
high gear.

Stober's Mill, Clay Township, died Wednesday evening at 9 o'clock at St.
Joseph's Hospital, Lancaster from tetanus or lockjaw, caused by a splinter
lodged in her lower limb.
