A national non-profit organization, based in Raleigh, NC, will hold its Annual Awards Dinner during which it will award the 2008 JfL Samaritan Award recognizing its Volunteer of the Year. Fred Hubach, Jr., a resident of Ephrata, PA and incoming freshman at Wheaton College, will be the recipient of this prestigious award selected from thousands of volunteers across the country.

JfL equips churches and organizations to provide job training and support to those who struggle finding and keeping employment. Today in over 90 cities and 30 states, hundreds of churches and community based organizations are leading JfL classes training people in character and work readiness skills and connecting them to a community of supportive relationships to help them achieve success in the marketplace. JfL training takes place in urban and suburban churches, prisons and re-entry programs, rescue missions, shelters, YMCAs, ministries to youth and many more.

Mr. Hubach will receive this award as a result of his extraordinary leadership of the JfL class held at his church, Reformed Presbyterian Church in Ephrata, PA. As a part of his high school Senior Service Project, Mr. Hubach chose to lead a JfL class for developmentally disabled adults who have struggled finding and keeping meaningful employment.

As the visionary leader of this initiative, Mr. Hubach raised the needed funding and recruited a teaching staff, support staff, and group of businesspeople all more than twice his age to train and educate the students on various topics related to employment skills. As a result, the students of the class, some of whom could neither read nor write, have experienced hope they have never experienced before and for some, found employment that previously would have been unattainable.

Mr. Fred Hubach, Jr. has demonstrated unique qualities of a servant giving time and value to these individuals in ways that will change their lives forever. As a result, Jobs for Life is honored to award Mr. Hubach its 2008 Samaritan Award.
