EPHRATA - Music students at Ephrata High School are busy rehearsing their scores and
making the final preparations for their upcoming spring concert on Tuesday,
May 20 at 7 p.m. Performing groups include the concert choir with over 120
voices, and the symphony orchestra, involving 100 or so string, woodwind,
brass and percussion performers. In addition to the large ensembles, the
camerata singers and the string orchestra will also participate. This
year's concert is unique in that there are 40 seniors who will be giving
their last music performance before graduating in June.
Orchestral
selections for the evening include the overture to Verdi's La Forza Del
Destino, and the last movement of Shastokovitch's Symphony No. 5. Concert
choir will perform Faure's Cantique, Lacrymosa from Mozart's Requiem, and
selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera.
The
orchestras are under the direction of Richard Ney, and the choirs are under
the direction of Jacqueline Owsinski.
The concert is free. There
will be a bake sale sponsored by the Ephrata High School Chapter of Tri-M
Music Honor Society in the lobby following the concert.
