AKRON -

Editor,

Ephrata Review,

Change, change, change. That's what we hear from those who are seeking to be president.

I heard one say the jobs lost in the steel industry in the last 25 years will be coming back. Really? I heard one say "I will answer the phone at three A.M. I would too. I heard one say we need to stay in Iraq. Maybe so. I hear young people say, we want a young person. That's what we are hearing.

As far as change is concerned. I believe I heard that before, when present leaders took over Congress.

The opinion of having a young president doesn't mean a change will happen. After all, probably 65 percent of Congress are older persons. Will they change their minds? We old folks are set in our mind wave lengths.

An example: I served eight years as a boro councilman. A friend of mine was elected. He said "I am going to make changes in this town". I said, "Friend if you can't convince three men to agree with you - nothing". He serve one year - nothing.

I lived during the Great Depression, drought, wars, recessions, prosperity, disasters.

I have never witnessed what is happening at the present. The divisiveness evident is unbelievable. For example, in government, there is in the majority of issues, no agreement. In fact, in my opinion, government by the people and for the people is gone.

There are more wealthy people, lobbyists, and special interest groups in Washington, D C than there are Congress people. They influence.

I rest my case.
