John Gockley, 74, mason

EPHRATA - John W. Gockley, 74 years and 1 month, of Lititz, went to be with the Lord
at 8:10 p.m. on May 6, 2008, after a year-long battle with
cancer.
He was born in Newmanstown, Lebanon County, a son of the
late Lester B. and Annie S. Wanner Gockley.
He did masonry work,
retiring in 1997. John also enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard, and
his dog Brandy.
He is survived by a brother, Lester Jr., husband of
Miriam Hess Gockley of Rothsville, and sisters, Naomi, wife of Earl K.
Goshert of Ephrata, and Mary Scheirey of Seattle, Wash., and his
stepchildren, Lori Ann, wife of Thien Dang and David Witmer of York, five
step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.
Besides his
parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Burnell and Michael, five
brothers, Elmer, Clarence, Ray, Noah, and Lloyd, three sisters, Elsie
Heiser, Anna Howe, and a stillborn.
A viewing was held Sunday, May
11 and Monday, May 12, followed by his funeral service, all at the
Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata with Rev. Rodger
Hornberger officiating. Interment followed in the Metzler Mennonite
Cemetery, West Earl Twp.
