Welz, Murphy in Idol finals

LITITZ - The final two rounds of auditions for the 2008 PA State Senior Idol
competition were held April 14 at the Hampton Inn in Downingtown, and April
17 at the Park Plaza Hotel in Lancaster.
Three performers from both
locations have been named semi-finalists and will progress to the finals
competition in June.
Semi-finalists selected from the Lancaster
auditions were Joey Welz of Lititz, who performed a Rock-N-Roll melody;
Paula Murphy of Lititz, who sang "Why Haven't I Heard From You" by Reba
McEntire; and Chris Roda of Landisville, who sang "You are Still You" by
Josh Groban.
Chosen from the Downingtown auditions were George
Pellegrino of West Chester, who performed "Higher and Higher" by Otis
Reading; Jeanne Todd of Jeffersonville, who sang "Somewhere Over the
Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz; and Virjette LaCour of East Fallowfield,
who sang vocals on "Wave" by Sergio Mendez and was accompanied by her
husband on guitar.
The semi-finalists from these two audition
locations will vie for the title of 2008 PA State Senior Idol at the finals
night competition to be held Monday, June 9 at The Dutch Apple Dinner
Theater, 510 Centerville Road, Lancaster.
The winner will receive a
limousine trip for two to New York City to enjoy dinner and a Broadway
show.
