Questions remain after
second body is found in creek. The body of 1994 Ephrata School graduate,
Craig Bowers, 22, of Ephrata, was found in the Cocalico Creek. The first
body, that of Heather Greth was first reported as a homicide. It was later
determined that the low line dam with it turbulent waters was the cause of
the double drowning.

open in the area.

The Ephrata girl's soccer team had
waited a long time to play for its first District title.Tuesday's district
three AAA Semifinals at Northeastern York High School pulled out a dramatic
1-0 victory over the L-L Section One rival Hempfield.They outlasted the
Knights in five overtimes.

Akron warehouse formerly occupied by the Ephrata Diamond Spring Water
Company, which was being converted into apartments and living quarters by
John Heiser, owner, was completely gutted by fire of an undetermined origin
at 9 a.m. last Wednesday. there was $7,500 damage.

M. Knight, pharmacist at Royer's Pharmacy for 23 will be honored on
Saturday at Philadelphia on the 50th anniversary of his graduation from
Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.

Rev. Paul J. Henry, pastor of
Trinity Lutheran church, today was to receive his master of sacred theology
degree from Mt. Airy Theological Seminary. He has been pastor here since
July 1, 1936.

Work has begun this week by A. L. Gerhart
on the building of a new $100,000 theatre being built by Harry Stiefel,
manager of the Roxy.

Ephrata's newest industry, Schwartz
Bros. cigar factory opened this week. The proprietors are Daniel and Marvin
Schwartz. They plan to manufacture a two cent cigar. About 10 persons are
now employed.

An auto driven by Charles Ingham, Park
Avenue, crashed into and snapped off a pole at Murrell. Ingham was
unhurt.

Harry Kepple, Reamstown, was injured when he was
struck by a delivery truck operated by Lloyd Mentzer.

A
truck driven by Walter Lepole, Akron, collided with a trolley car at the
Broad street crossing in Akron.

Warren Ochs, 17, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ochs, Reinholds, escaped injury when his auto skidded
on the wet road and hit a chicken house belonging to Mrs. Louise
Gerhart.

appointed second bugler and Paul Zwally second drummer. J.H. Westerhoff is
first drummer and C.C. Mann first bugler.

science.

Harry M. Sprecher will be the
Grand Marshall of the Memorial Day parade which will start promptly at 1
p.m. the parade will include Red Cross, GAR veterans, state constabulary,
school children, industrial organizations, fire engines, Boy Scouts, secret
orders, Cloister Club, citizens, the citizens and the Schaefferstown band.
A special ceremony will be held at the flag pole at the square, with H. H.
Singer as master of ceremonies.

Simon Romig is rebuilding the large oven of his
bread and cake bakery on East Main Street. While the oven is being rebuilt
the baking is being done in the bakery of Hotel
Cocalico.

the GAR are invited.
