EPHRATA -

Editor,

Ephrata Review,

On Sunday, April 27,  the Tour de Ephrata ushered in our one year anniversary in Ephrata. I remember trying to move our stuff to the apartment, knowing nothing of Ephrata and her streets. I was able to travel my usual route into Ephrata, the first time I brought a load, but finding my way out was a differn't story. When I asked one of the men, who was setting up the barriers on Lake Street, how I should go about getting out and coming back, he quickly told me how, and I really appreciated his pleasant attitude. The whole town smelled of excitment, because as I walked back to my car, I could already see lawn chairs and blankets at various places along Lake Street. I turned and saw the same on Fulton, and hurried back to my car.

I made four more trips back to Lancaster to get our stuff, and I'd pushed myself to get it done, because I didn't want to get in the way of the race. That wasn't possible. It was nice to finally get unloaded, sit down on my porch on Gross Street, drinking cold iced tea and watching the last half of the race. I was done with my work, hungry and tired, and it was nice to be initiated into Ephrata society with one of their traditions.
