Wayne and Hannah Martin celebrate 60th anniversary
EPHRATA, PA - On Thursday, December 23, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Martin of Ephrata celebrated 60 years of marriage. They were married on December 23, 1944. Mrs. Martin is the former Hannah Wise.

Wayne is retired from New Holland Concrete Products, and Hannah, from Reamstown Garment Co.

Golden Years Club features Joe Calhoun
EPHRATA, PA - The first meeting of 2005 was held by the Golden Years Club at the Ephrata Recreation Center on Jan. 5 with 153 members and guests present. The greeters for the day were Evelyn Horst and Helen Sweigart. The Rev. Wert shared a prayer after lunch. The lunch menu was beef bar-b-q with roll, macaroni salad, white cake, coffee and punch. Kitchen helpers were Kathryn and Harry Steffy, Arlene Redcay, and Paul and Viola Hostetter.

Snyder - Emrick
EPHRATA, PA - John and Susan Snyder, 107 Ridge Ave., Ephrata, announce the engagement of their son, David Snyder, 107 Ridge Ave., Ephrata, and Kristili Emrick, Lilac Lane, Harrisburg.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Michael and Patrick Emrick, Phillipsburg, NJ. She received a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from Messiah College in 2004. She is employed as a health and physical education teacher at Manheim Township High School.

Mr. Snyder graduated from Ephrata High School in 2000. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Messiah College in 2004. He is a full time graduate student at West Chester University in exercise physiology.

A July 24 wedding is being planned.

Engagement
Marella - Ritter
EPHRATA, PA - The engagement of Mrs. Joyce M. Marella and Eugene Ritter of 2015 N. Reading Road, Denver, is announced by the couple.

The bride-to-be is retired. She is the daughter of the late Margaret and Webb Strouse.

Mr. Ritter is also retired. He is the son of the late Norman and Susan Ritter.

The wedding will take place on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, this year.

The happy couple plans to reside at Colonial Lodge, Denver, for the first year of their marriage.

Ephrata Community Church will dedicate new facility on Sunday
EPHRATA, PA - Ephrata Community Church will celebrate the completion of its new facility with a Dedication Service and Open House on Sunday, January 16. A Dedication Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. followed by an Open House including self-guided tours from 3-6 p.m.

The public is welcomed to walk through the building at their own pace and take the opportunity to see the new facility. Guides will be located throughout the building to answer questions. The Christian Education department will feature face painting and balloons for the children. Refreshments will be served in the Cafe and in the Banquet Room.

Richard and Lois Sensenig celebrate 50th anniversary
EPHRATA, PA - Richard and Lois Sensenig celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 1, 2005. They were married on January 1, 1955 at the bride’s home in Greencastle.

I. Homer and Mary B. Martin celebrate 60th anniversary
EPHRATA, PA - I. Homer and Mary Burkhart Martin, 220 N. Lime Rd., Stevens, were honored recently with a card shower celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married by the Rev. Wesley P. Martin at Akron United Zion Church on November 23, 1944.

The bride-to-be graduated from Ephrata High School in 1998 and from Messiah College in 2002 with a B.A. in sociology. She is employed by Philhaven Behavioral Healthcare Services, Mt. Gretna.

John and Elsie Leid celebrate 70th wedding anniversary
EPHRATA, PA - John G. and Elsie W. Leid, Dry Tavern Road, Denver, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in September at their annual family reunion at Mohlers Church of the Brethren in Ephrata.

Roland Zimmerman Family in concert at Ephrata Manor
EPHRATA, PA - An afternoon of music is planned on Sunday, Jan. 9, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel at Ephrata Manor. The Roland Zimmerman Family, pictured above, will be performing gospel music for the residents of Ephrata Manor. This free concert is also open to the public to attend. The Roland Zimmerman Family is a musical ministry from the East Earl area. They perform mostly at local retirement homes. This group performs bluegrass and old-time country styles of gospel music. They call it “down-home” gospel music. The Roland Zimmerman Family consists of: Roland (the father), Rhoda (the mother), and Ryan (the son). They perform using guitar, vocal harmonizer, and original soundtracks as accompaniment. They sing older gospel songs, as well as their original material. Ephrata Manor is located at 99 Bethany Road, Ephrata. The chapel is located in side the main entrance of Ephrata Manor. For more information, contact the Roland Zimmerman Family at 354-6804.
