Boxers in briefs
EPHRATA, PA - I’ve seen a lot of things in my life.

I’ve seen Presidents Kennedy and Johnson, a pope, and a fair share of other dignitaries and world leaders. I once saw a guy sitting in the middle of busy traffic at Columbus Circle in New York City with about a dozen long meat skewers stuck in one side of his face and coming out the other. The fact that he did this on purpose and looked like he had had a losing encounter with the spokes of a bicycle wheel didn’t make it any less of a very strange sight.

I once saw hundreds of rats crossing a road and evidently looking for shelter during a nasty hurricane on Long Island. (As with a lot of things in life being relative, the guy with the skewers coming out of his face was a more welcome sight than hundreds of rats crossing the road...just a personal preference.) I’ve talked to Muhammad Ali, Barbra Streisand, Liz Taylor, Robert Redford, and The Beatles. Now I’m not saying that I was completely blasé about all those encounters; just that I was in a job, in a place, and in a time where it was a relatively common occurrence.
