Adorned with lights along the laces and edges, this giant sneaker (honoring Akron's once-famous industry) ushered in 2013 during Akron's annual ceremony in Broad Street park. Hundreds arrived during the evening hours of New Year's Eve for a festive event which featured free hot dogs with sauerkraut, cookies, hot chocolate and face painting leading up to the big moment at midnight.
