Winners announced for Teen Read Week Poster Contest
Public libraries in Lancaster County are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Teen Read Week poster contest. The contest that centered on this year’s theme, "Dare to Read for the Fun of It!," ran from October 14-20 at public libraries throughout Lancaster County.
Youth ages 10 – 18 years who are Lancaster County residents were eligible to submit their poster art that represented a favorite book or book series. Participating libraries awarded local prizes to youth in the following categories: Tweens (10-12); Teens (13-15) and Teens (16-18).
10-12 Year Old Category: Grand Prize Winner- Hannah Moynihan, who did a poster "Nancy Drew," and submitted at the Milanof-Schock Library, Mount Joy; Second Place Winner- John Kieley, who did a poster "Dragon Breath," and submitted it at the Strasburg-Heisler Library, Strasburg.
13-15 Year Old Category: Grand Prize Winner- Geoffrey McClary who did a poster "Redwall Series," and submitted it at the Strasburg-Heisler Library, Strasburg; Second Place Winner- Katelyn Cox who did a poster "Hourglass" and submitted it at the Pequea Valley Public Library, Intercourse.
16-18 Year Old Category: Grand Prize Winner- Kierstin Richard who did a poster "Dracula" and submitted it at the Ephrata Public Library; Second Place Winner- Kirstin Metzler, who did a poster "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya," and submitted it at the Milanof-Schock Library, Mount Joy.
Prizes included- Grand Prize $50 Barnes & Noble Gift Card and $25 Isaac’s Famous Grilled Sandwiches Gift Card; Second Place Prize $25 Barnes & Noble Gift Card. All entrants received prize coupons from local businesses: The Comic Store, Isaac’s Famous Grilled Sandwiches and Laserdome.
Participating libraries were: Adamstown Area Library, Columbia Public Library, Eastern Lancaster County Library, Elizabethtown Public Library, Ephrata Public Library, Lancaster Public Library, Lancaster Public Library East – Leola Branch, Lancaster Public Library West – Mountville Branch, Lititz Public Library, Manheim Community Library, Manheim Township Public Library, Milanof-Schock Library (Mount Joy), Moores Memorial Library (Christiana), Pequea Valley Public Library, Salisbury Township Branch Library (Gap), Quarryville Library, and Strasburg-Heisler Library.
