Gene Foltz, WWII veteran, Black and Decker welder

Gene Alvin Foltz, 86, of Stevens, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at Denver Health & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Terre Hill to the late Alvin and Florence (Schaeffer) Foltz and was the husband of the late Erma Foltz, who passed away in 1996.

Gene served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and he was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Brownstown. Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. He especially enjoyed his dogs, Pepper and Miasey. During his working years, he was a welder for Black and Decker, Lancaster.

Gene is survived by a son: Gene Jr., husband of Sandy Foltz, of Millersville; a grandson: Scott Good; granddaughter: Bridgette Foltz; three great-grandchildren: Kylie, Joel and Hannah Good; four brothers: William, Lee, Timothy and Galen Foltz; and two sisters: Audrey Wyble and Lucille (Sis) Bahrengburg.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Sandra L. (Good) Hanson.

Funeral services were held Oct. 20 at the Stradling Funeral Home, Akron, with Pastor Timothy Craven officiating. Interment took place in the Middle Creek Brethren Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Gene’s memory may be made to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
