Harry Foreman, 85, WWII vet, farmer, truck driver
Harry B. Foreman, 85, of Stevens, entered into the presence of the Lord Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Hospice and Community Care, Lancaster.
He was born in Blue Ball to the late Albert B. and Anna (Becker) Foreman. Harry was the husband of the late Josephine M. (Spangler) Foreman and leaves behind his loving wife Edith (Redcay) Minnich-Foreman whom he married Dec. 31, 2006.
Harry was a corporal in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1947. He enjoyed farming and loved animals. He was an owner operator truck driver for over 40 years. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling to new places, especially to the APHA World Horse Show in Texas, to watch his granddaughter. In his younger years, he played ice hockey as the goalie for the Flying Dutchman, a farm club for the Hershey Bears. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards. His love for life, helping people, his recent alias, "Snickelfritz," and other teases and practical jokes will long be remembered by his family and friends. Harry’s home church was Grace Fellowship Church in Ephrata, and he also attended Speedwell Heights Brethren in Christ Church in Lititz with Edith.
In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by his dearly loved children, daughter: Diane, wife of William Eberly, of Stevens; daughter: Coleen, wife of Bryan Gehman, of Stevens; stepdaughter: Renee, wife of Kirk Meiskey, of Ephrata; stepson: Bryan, husband of Deb Minnich, of Denver; stepdaughter: Marcia, wife of John White, of Ephrata; grandchildren: Shawn, husband of Priscilla Eberly; Philip, husband of Jeannie Eberly; Allison, wife of TR Serio; Justin, husband of Tanya Gehman; and Jeremy Gehman; step- grandchildren: Kirk Meiskey Jr.; Kristy, wife of Melvin Waldner; Julie White; and Michael White; five great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service was held Sept. 4 at the Grace Fellowship Church, Ephrata, with Pastor Frank Rice and Pastor Adam Forry officiating.
Interment took place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
