See your summer photos next week

Our monthly photo contest is in full summer mode, so thank you to all who submitted photos through the July 17 deadline for next week’s summer theme section.

We received everything from kids playing at the park, visits to grandpa and grandma’s house, family reunions and pool parties. These can all be seen in our next edition of "It’s All About You," published in the July 25 issue of The Review.

One of these photos will be selected for our monthly grand prize.

Next month’s theme is "vacation photos." Start sending those in now, identified for the August It’s All About You, to Andy Fasnacht at afasnacht.eph@lnpnews.com. They can also be dropped off at our Ephrata office or mailed to P.O. Box 527, Ephrata, PA 17522.

When submitting photos, please include all necessary identifications and your contact information (in case we have any question). Submitted information should include names of those in the photos, your local connection, where and when the photos were taken, and identity of the photographer.

In the meantime, we will continue to give out weekly awards. ? Annemaria Leed, Stevens, $25 Bath Barn gift card from Mervin Zimmerman

The arms won out

Todd Ruth

Ephrata Review

Sports Editor The District 10 Legion Baseball Tournament usually comes down to a battle of attrition.

The team that can squeeze out just enough pitching more times than not emerges as the champion. That’s just the way it is, playing five to six baseball games in a five-day period.

It was evident pitching was getting a little thin as of Sunday when Lititz squeezed out a 13-11 slugfest over CV. Monday night, SWS and New Holland, two quality teams, hit a combined three home runs as the former outlasted the latter, 8-6, in a win-or-go-home game.

And Tuesday night, it was quite apparent all Ephrata needed to do was outlast SWS in the pitching department and the title was theirs for the taking.

When SWS went to the bullpen in the bottom of the third, it was over.

Amazingly, Ephrata, with its endless supply of arms available, never had to sweat it out and won this brutal tournament with ease. I’ve never seen a team breeze through one of these like this, and I’ve been covering this stuff for 25 years.
