Girl Scout Camp to hold open house
Girls in grades 2-10 and their parents are invited to join Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania (GSHPA) to find out more about it at our Summer Camp Open House at Camp Furnace Hills in Denver.
The Open House will be held on May 12 from 1 to 4 p.m.
As the school year is winding down, many girls and their parents are beginning to think about how they will spend their vacations and planning summer activities. What better way to get the summer started than making new friends, singing songs around the campfire and taking on bold new adventures? This year marks the last chance for Girl Scouts to go camping during the first 100 years of Girl Scouting.
Girl Scout Summer Camp offers a wide variety of fun, exciting and enriching activities for girls to choose from so they can make each day at camp their own new adventure and create memories that will last a lifetime. This yea include: horseback riding, archery, boating and canoeing, arts and crafts, wildlife observation, swimming, off-site trips to local attractions, and hiking.
GSHPA’s free open house is an informal meeting designed to give girls and their parents a perfect opportunity to see what Girl Scout Camp is all about and is held at the actual property where girls will attend camp. This makes it easy for a girl to tour the camp facilities, meet camp staff, ask questions and get an up close and personal look at where she may potentially spend part of her summer. It can also help first-time campers and their parents who are uncertain about spending a week away from home by getting a better feel for the camping experience.
Girl Scout Summer Camp is open to all girls in grades 2-10, not just Girl Scouts. If a girl has a friend in Girl Scouts and she would like to join her at camp, or if she just wants to attend camp on her own, she is welcome to come to our open house to learn more about Girl Scout Camps.
The open house will be held rain or shine; dress accordingly and comfortably for walking outside. To register to attend or to request more information, call 800-692-7816 or e-mail email@example.com.
GSHPA serves more than 27,000 girls in 30 counties in Pennsylvania and welcomes adults interested in volunteering and all girls in grades K-12, embracing every aspect of diversity. For more information, visit gshpa.org.
