Harvey Reidenbach, worked with first color TV receivers

Harvey R. Reidenbach, 96, of Ephrata Manor, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 at his residence.

Born in Witmer, he was the son of the late Abner S. and Anna L. Rohrer Reidenbach. He was the husband of the late Blanche Weinhold Reidenbach who died in 2009.

Harvey was a manager at the former American Stores Co. for several years before leaving and working for the former RCA making tubes for the Navy during World War II. After the war, he continued his work at RCA making television picture tubes. As a technician, he worked in the laboratory with a group of engineers that developed the first color television receivers. He retired from RCA in 1981.

He is survived by a daughter: Nancy L., wife of Frank Jackson, of Twain Harte, Calif.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son: Stanley H. Reidenbach; and a granddaughter: Coleen Reidenbach.

A memorial service was held on Jan. 21 at Grace United Church of Christ, Lancaster. Interment was private. Furman Home for Funerals, Leola, handled the arrangements. For more information, visit furmanfuneralhome.com.
