There may not be any word for some time whether or not residents of Ephrata Area School District will see their school taxes increase for the 2012-2013 school year.
But at Monday night’s school board meeting it did become clear if taxes do go up, the district will be limited to what it can do. The re-organized board voted to "opt out" of the option to apply for exceptions under Act One, which will have the effect of keeping any tax increase to a max of 2.1 percent.

Surviving residents Heather and Jonathan lost their parents, Melvin and Patti Rissler, and their sister, Rachel, in the blaze. Not residing in the home are their two sisters, Sarah Diem and Rebekah, as well as several half-brothers and sisters.
Lorenzo and Francesco Bonura, co-owners, have known the Risslers as regular customers for some time. Both wanted to do something to help and therefore have decided to donate 15 percent of all sales on this day to the surviving family.

Plenty of optimism in Ephrata wrestling camp
By: TODD RUTH Review Sports Editor truth.eph@lnpnews.com, Staff Writer
It’s been a while since there was this much optimism coming out of the Ephrata wrestling camp. But it comes with good reason.
The Mounts return a total of 10 letterwinners to the mix, including former District qualifiers Chad and Mike Lammer, as well as Todd Dumas, from a team that went 3-3 in Section Two a year ago. Add to that mix of returnees a talented group of eight wrestlers up from the middle school team and the Mounts have talent, depth and a team that could seriously challenge in the Section Two race.
"This is the largest team we’ve had in quite a few years," seven-year Coach Josh Clair said. "I’ve had some teams in the past that might have had some better individual talent, but as a whole, from top to bottom, this should be one of our stronger teams. The kids have been working hard. More importantly, they are believing and expecting to win this year. In the past, we had some guys who would buy in but this year as a team, as a whole, they are definitely expecting good things and believe that they can beat anybody."
